Perhaps someone can tell me how to apply these effects so that they will be recorded when I press record. I have one problem with this, in that when I record this mic track the fx do not seem to be recorded, I say this because when I play back the recorded audio, toggling on and off the fx on the track does nothing, the levels stay the same and no difference is detectable. You mention differing ways to add effects, I am using a default preset chain for every new track, that way when the computer is unattended and some little person decides to add a new song and play it, there is no way they can harm the speakers because they are protected by the default fx chain settings. I seem to be getting absolutely no delay regarding what is spoken and when it is heard, even though it says 3.9ms at the top right of reaper, last time I tried this setup I had a lot of delay even though I reduced the samples.

As regards the fore mentioned monitoring knob on the UR22, I have it set in the middle, if I turn it right it does away with the sound in the speaker, if I turn it to the left it increases the signal to the Roland Cube speakers ever so slightly, so I leave it in the middle. I was then able to add an EQ and some compression to this mic track, which I could clearly hear on the speaker. I then took a line / cable from this chanel on the UR22 and sloted it into a line in on the Roland Cube, and all is working well. I then armed the record button, and selected the monitor button on that chanel. I simply put the mic into slot one on the UR22, added a track to reaper, and selected Chanel 1 of the UR22 as the input to that track, In any event, I set all up, and it is working for me, here is what I did, and I would appreciate any input as to any wrong doing that follows. There is a knob on it that mixes the signal from reaper with the head phone one, or lets you use either, I have it in the middle, which seems to work for me, if I turn it right it outputs to the headphones more, and if I turn it left it outputs more to the speakers via the UR22. I do not know what you mean by turning off monitoring from my UR22, If you pick "Tape Auto Style" then the input track will mute while you play until you press record, just as the old analog tape machines used to do. Just right click on the record button and choose "Monitor Input". The advantage here is that you are actually recording the effect.īoth of these methods require you to turn on Monitor Input for that channel. To do that, you right click on the channel's record button and go to "Track Input FX Chain" and then add the plugin there. Add the effect to the input FX of the channel. If you use this method, you aren't recording the sound of the effect, so if you do record, you'll need to render the mix out to hear it in the final product.Ģ. Add the effect by clicking the FX button on the track.

You'll need to turn off your interface's "output monitoring" and to do that, you'll need to RTM.Īdding an effect is easy- and, for you there's really 2 ways you can do it, once your interface monitoring is turned off:ġ. Sounds to me like you are actually monitoring from your interface and not Reaper- as others have already said.
